#11257 Warlords of Draenor [give up]

I'm sure there are many fans of Robin Williams working at Blizzard capable of coming up with this idea without having to read anything on the Internet.

They are after all no different from other WoW players feeling sad about the loss of an actor who have entertained many of us for a good two decades.

I'm in the same state of mind. Really, a single NPC isn't going to effect anything. If a single NPC somewhere in the world will make some people happy, then why not?

When's E3?
Also, if we have to wait until Blizzcon for WoD.... insanity.

E3 is on June 10th - 12th this year :) I hope we won't have to wait for Blizzcon to get new information outta Blizzard.

#10785 Star Citizen [MT]

Posted by Templar on 13 April 2014 - 10:17 PM

This game has some serious $$ invested in it. I don't know what to think of it yet but the idea of a space MMO with some pew pew gets me excited, aka Eve Online where you actually control your ship :) Also they need to have the laser sound effects from Star Wars ! Other than that, I liked the Pax East vid.

Yeah, I think $41 million has been donated thus far. I like the concept but am concerned about the complexity of the game and such. Will definitely try it out though.

#10780 Star Citizen [MT]

Star Citizen is an upcoming space trading and combat simulator video game for Microsoft Windows in development by Chris Roberts and Cloud Imperium Games.

Star Citizen will consist of two main components: first person space combat and trading in an MMO-style Persistent Universe and modifiable, optionally cooperative private servers including a branching single player campaign known as Squadron 42. The game will feature Oculus Rift support.

Both Star Citizen and Squadron 42 are set in a 30th-century Milky Way centered around the fictional UEE (United Empire of Earth). A strong focus will be placed on player interaction, with player behaviour influencing and being influenced by a dynamic economy system.

The game will run on a subscription model similar to GW2, only paying once to play the game. Micro-transactions are available in the form of ships and other cosmetic content. All content available through micro-transactions can be earned within the game.

Gameplay

Star Citizen will feature gameplay similar to other Robert's space sims, abandoning the traditional MMO 'click to kill' system in favor of skill-based, space shooter mechanics. Ship upgrades will factor heavily into combat, but player skill will ultimately determine game performance.

Star Citizen will have multiple game types, ranging from a permanent, persistent world similar to contemporary MMOs to an offline, single player campaign with drop-in-drop-out cooperative play. The game will include the option for private servers, and will offer modding tools for these servers at some point after launch.

Combat

Ship combat will rely mainly on piloting skill and ship balance. When two ships enter combat, they are seamlessly instanced into a battleground. Other ships can dynamically join and leave this battleground, up to 100+ ships (depending on game design). The game will use this dynamic instancing to spread out ship battles and reduce server load. For example, if there are 1,000 ships fighting in orbit of a planet, the game will try to split it into 10 instanced battles of 100 players each.

#10754 Heartbleed bug (Change your passwords kiddos)

Posted by Templar on 09 April 2014 - 10:00 PM

Yesterday, security researchers announced a security flaw in OpenSSL, a popular data encryption standard, that gives hackers who know about it the ability to extract massive amounts of data from the services that we use every day and assume are mostly secure.

Basically, hackers now have an easier time accessing personal information from your accounts. I don't understand the full extent of this bug but that is the gist.

Since the vulnerability has been in OpenSSL for about two years and using it leaves no trace, assume that your accounts may be compromised. You should change your online passwords, especially for services where privacy and security are major concerns. However, many sites likely haven't upgraded to software without the bug, so immediately changing them still might not help.

The researchers who discovered the flaw let the developers behind OpenSSL know several days before announcing the vulnerability, so it was fixed before word got out yesterday. Most major service providers should already be updating their sites, so the bug will be less prevalent over coming weeks.

In short, change your passwords.

Here's a full, in depth article on the bug - http://www.businessi...xplainer-2014-4

Don't mean to be the bearer of bad thoughts, but this was filed on April fools day. Could it be a joke that the community picked up on late?
