#11287 Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft [MT] Now on iPad!

Posted by rs10rs10 on 21 August 2014 - 10:13 PM

So after taking a rather long break from Hearthstone over the summer I finally made it back to Legend!! :)

This was the deck I used:

I can strongly recommend the deck. Not only is it extremely cheap, only costs 660 dust, but it's also really powerful when played correctly. The deck has a really high skill-cap and figuring out the correct play out of a myriad of options (including what you could potentially draw with Tracking, Buzzard and Flare which is mandatory at higher ranks) feels very rewarding! On that note when I made the climb it felt like I didn't fully understand the deck until yesterday where I managed to achieve a 7 games winning streak and today where I the final push to Legend with an 85 % win rate (11-2).

If you want any advice on how to play the deck feel free to ask!

Looks like an awesome deck! :)

Maybe 2x Bloodlust is too much though? They can end up being dead cards for a rather long time and having 2 of them in the hand at the same time can really hurt your tempo.

I also really love Unbound Elemental so personally I would probably cut 1x Bloodlust, 1x Forked Lightning (only 2 dmg makes it not really worth it in my opinion when you consider the double overload) and then add 1x Lightning Bolt, 1x Unbound Elemental.

Apart from that it looks really solid :) If I had acces to all legendaries I would probably add 1x Bloodmage Thalnos and 1x Al'Akir/1x Doomhammer as you mentioned as well.

I finally did it! Last night at 2:00 AM I finally reached Legend with Miracle Rogue :)

My stats from rank 9-Legend (on the right only stats from Miracle):

As you can see my win rate with Miracle was 67 %, and vs Hunters specifically I managed to reach 83 %! If you have to cards to play this deck I strongly recommend it. It's difficult to learn but rewarding to master. There is nothing better than making Miracles happen and win games you really shouldn't have :)

The deck:

Just a few thoughts concerning the Handlock deck as I've been playing it a lot recently.

Bloodmage Thalnos is not a card you need to use in the deck at all, recentently many people have started ditching it for cards such as Faceless Manipulator, Power Overwhelming or Sylvanas/Cairne. Not including this makes the deck 1600 dust cheaper without affecting it's quality ;)

Running 1x Faceless Manipulator + 1x Power Overwhelming + 1x Leeroy Jenkins allows you to combo them together for 20 dmg for 10 mana. This is a really powerfull tool to defeat other control decks as they are not expecting that kind of burst from a Handlock (I run this and I promise you that it is so satisfying to pull off and you actually get a chance to do it quite often in the control matchup).

The deck doesn't include Leeroy which in my opinion is almost a mistake. Many control decks are currently running finisher cards, fx Shamans with Al'akir/Doomhammer+Rockbiter and Warriors with Grommash. Leeroy+Shadowflame is also a 6 damage to the face+6dmg boardclear. On that note, Power Overwhelming can also be used to buff fx an Ironbark Owl or a Sunfury Protector into Shadowflame for 6 dmg boardclear for 7 mana. Point is, it's not a card which can only be used for the combo.

Likewise, the Faceless Manipulator is also almost never a dead card as it can be used on plenty of your own minions such as giants and even Twillight Drakes (with +8 health and maybe even taunt) vs aggro. Don't save the cards for the combo if you need to use it now!

Believe in Miracles

So I've been having a ton of fun lately playing my new rogue deck. This is the first deck I have made entirely on my own that works out well in the constructed ladder even on the higher ranks.

One note though is that this deck is quite difficult to play as you will often have to make very difficult decisions as well as playing up to 10 cards in a single turn (and doing that perfectly requires a lot of practise/skill).

At first my deck also ran the Leeroy+Shadowstep combo but I felt like I wanted to go all out on the spells, so I cut 'em out :) The main goal of my deck is to take advantage of the crazy combination between spells and Mana Addicts/Gadgetzan Auctioneers to kill your opponent in one single turn (OTK). Here are some screenshots that show basically why this deck is so much fun to play.

As you can see in I managed to draw my entire deck that turn as well as deal 25+16=41 damage in a single turn! You might say: "Well he should have killed the Mana Addict and the Gadgetzan Auctioneer! Only works against noobs that don't know how to clear the board."

Well here comes the clever part: When you set up this combo you generally want to stealth your minions with Conceal the turn before you actually perform the combo.

Playing the deck

Mulligan :

One of the most overlooked (imo) and important parts of a game of Hearthstone is the Mulligan phase.I'm still not 100 % sure how to mulligan perfectly with this deck but these are the cards I keep during the Mulligan phase so far: Backstab, Deadly Poison, Argent Squire, Shiv, Loot Hoarder, Novice Engineer and Fan of Knives.

Having at least one 1x Conceal (C') and 1x Gadgetzan Auctioneer (GA) at turn 6 is extremely important with this deck however so I have started experimenting with keeping them in the hand as well which so far has worked out fine.

During the Match:

As you might have figured it is very good to go second with this deck because the coin counts as a spell. This is the general game plan with this deck:

  • During the first 5 turns you will try to keep the board clean in order to buy yourself additional time to get the cards needed to start performing the combo with GA+C. This is the reason why I decided to put 8 cards in my deck that draw another card. This way you are very quickly searching through your entire deck to obtain these few crucial cards. Cards like Shiv and Fan of Knives are also great at keeping the board clean together with the rogue hero power.
  • The turn after you have used GA+C you will try to draw as many cards as possible to set up the kill. This can be done in many ways and you often kill your opponent in a slightly different manner every time.
  • Sometimes you get another Conceal which basically means that you have won :) Just dropping 1 Mana Addict and Concealing it is almost always enough to kill your opponent the next turn.
  • If you don't get Conceal you will have to stall for a bit longer or risk playing maybe 2x Mana Addicts on the same turn and just YOLO that he won't kill both of them.
  • You will almost always draw the second GA if you don't get Conceal and you are now free to trade off the first one to buy yourself addition time.

As you can see the combinations are almost endless when your factor in your opponents actions as well and from here on you will have to figure the rest out on the fly. Having to make a lot of crucial decision every turn is what makes this deck somewhat difficult to play but killing him with often 40-60 damage is very satisfying :)

Random notes (will add more later, it's getting late...):

Save Sap for their big taunters.

This deck only uses 2x Epics and 0x Legendaries so it is very cheap to build.

Feedback is very welcome and if you have any questions feel free to ask me and I will do my best at answering them :)

Hey there and welcome!! :)

Seems like a pretty good deck you have there. What rank are you?

#10058 Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft [MT] Now on iPad!

Posted by rs10rs10 on 29 December 2013 - 10:34 PM

I've been playing a lot of Hearthstone lately and over the last few days I've finally managed to reach rank 4 with a mage aggro deck. I will post the deck below but perhaps more interesting I've been keeping track of which classes I meet and how I fare against them and this information should prove valuable no matter what class/deck you are playing! ;)

Le deck + Stats:

As you can see the deck fares pretty well against all classes apart from warlock but an incredibly high winrate vs Shamans/Rogues more than makes up for that ;)

I think this deck is capable of reaching rank 3 or even 2 in it's current form but as I expect to run into a lot more warlocks at the very top I might change the deck around a bit again and incorporate some arcane explosions/abominations/water elementals/Thalnos.

Also if anyone is interested in more stats feel free to PM me as I will keep recording :)

I seriously can't wait for the beta to launch. This game simply looks like a ton of fun just like Hearthstone.
