Small Teasers Coming from an ex-Blizzard GM via Reddit.

In what seems to have become a common event, another ex-Blizzard GM went on Reddit to answer the questions of anyone interested in asking.

Verification wise, he provided a pic of his nameplate and some of his answers are detailed -and weird- enough to indeed suggest that he knows what he's talking about. Ghostcrawler on the other hand seems to have a problem with some of his answers, so it's best to take his statements with a grain of salt.

Project Titan did of course get mentioned, and while lack of knowledge or fear of getting sued  limited his answers, he gave us a couple of small teasers. You can find below all the interesting ones.

Three times the Hype

BlizzardThrowaway

As far as Titan goes, I do feel like it's going to blow a lot of things out of the water if it goes the way they explained to us. I'm actually excited for it. and I don't really play Blizzard games.

BlizzardThrowaway

I will say that it's something you haven't seen from Blizzard before. A different direction in gaming style.

BlizzardThrowaway

Well it's been a while since I've heard anything, but I will say that if it goes how they were explaining it to us during our Show & Tells, then it's going to be pretty fucking badass, and may even kill, or slightly hinder WoW. It's that sweet of an idea. Let's just hope they don't f**k it up. >_>

Character classes.

BlizzardThrowaway

No we don't get told everything that goes on because there are bad seeds out there, but that goes for all departments. But we did get so see designs, storyboards, character classes, and a general overview of what it's hopefully going to be.

Nope.

BlizzardThrowaway

No clue what they plan on doing. That shit isn't going to be out for like 10 years, my guess is.

Not much to comment on, except it's of course promises and predictions we've heard before. Considering he says it's been a while since he heard anything specific about the project, his 10 years prediction shouldn't really account for much, although recent news does favor it unfortunately.

This in a way provides fuel to the argument that Blizzard tried a bit too much with Titan and in the end, out of tech and/or design reasons it didn't fully pan out, so they had to rethink some of the game's features. Probably something along these lines.  :)

Small Update

He has deleted all his messages and also his reddit account, approximately one day after doing the AMA. No reason was given.

Very interesting find, boss! :) Very interesting read, but... 10 more years of World of Warcraft? NOOOOOOOOO!!! :D

With all that information being released around Titan, I don't know what to believe anymore. I lowered my expectations regarding Titan drastically in order not to get disappointed. I'm stil looking forward to an official announcement (whenever this might happen).

Always fun with AMA on reddit.

I don't know what to make of his comment in his OP:

apparently they scrapped the idea and are starting fresh

I don't want to read too much into those words but "starting fresh" sounds like we are in for a long wait.

This is very interesting, I just hope we don't have to wait 10 years for Titan

He left Blizzard last year and he also said that he hasn't heard anything about Titan in a while (3rd quote), so I don't see how he'd have any inside info about this. He's probably just repeating what he heard in the news recently.

So glad I clicked on the last link.  =)

most juicy stuff i got from the reddit post was a sense that the devs are even more full of hot air than i thought at blizzard these days and that the QA teams are not going into testing with enough passion for the games they are testing (no knowledge of background story etc.). also most the titan news seems to be pre titan scrap there is some hints as to why it was scrapped tho

Aw. All of his answers have been deleted now :(

I did read the vast majority of his AMA and you posted something that did stand out alot for me.

The quote about Character Classes, so i guess a Trinity System might have been on the table after all.

Who knows whats happening now with this "reset", but i get the feeling people are getting to worked up about it. I would imagine that before the reset depending on the reason for the reset alot of the work or at least a good majority of it could already be done on either end.

If they are starting again because of Tech problems then they may still be going forward with the same Story and Gameplay styles they fleshed out previously. Still if they had issues with gameplay then their Engine and Networking infrastructure will still be of great use to them nad readily available to start rebuilding the game. So whichever way you look at it, it isnt all doom and gloom.

If you have missed the AMA diablo incgamers have made a good summary on the questions and answers categorized per game.
