New Section on Blizzard's Jobs Page: Unannounced Game Title. Titan's Return?

A new jobs section has recently appeared on Blizzard's website and it's teasingly called Unannounced Game Title. It currently holds 6 job entries, 5 of them for various visual artist positions. This comes just a bit over one month after the Next Gen MMO section was completely removed, probably due to the Titan reset that was announced in May. Here are a few fragments from the freshly added job postings:

3D Character Animator

The ideal candidate has experience modeling and texturing character assets in a stylized universe. A solid grasp of form, color, and light for both 2D and 3D art assets is essential. The 3D character artist must also have experience working with a diverse range of characters, creatures, weapons, and equipment both organic and mechanical in nature.

Lead Server Programmer

This individual will lead the development of server architecture and implementation of an exciting new Blizzard game and will lead a group of programmers to accomplish various server programming tasks.

Senior VFX Artist

The ideal candidate has extensive experience working with 3D packages, in-game FX systems to create a wide range of VFX (fire, smoke, explosions, etc.), as well as a general understanding of good game play communication.

As is usual the case with such black box observations, this new development raises more questions than it answers.

Is this new section referring to Titan? The title fits, because Blizzard has made it a point recently to note that the game was never officially announced. This would mean that the project is back on track, but the way the title has been reworded might also suggest that it suffered drastic changes. Is it still an MMO? Is this new "Titan" maybe just using assets and tech but going in a whole different direction gameplay wise?

What if it's not Project Titan at all? It's definitely not HS (already announced), All-Stars (shares a section with SC2 on the jobs page) or any of their other 3 big franchises. So does this mean Blizzard is engaged in a new major project? And where does that leave Titan?

There are no certainties, except that Blizzard is indeed cooking something new, whether it's Titan, a derivative of Titan or something completely unknown.

What do you think?

Now this... this is interesting!

I hope it is Titan because that would show that the game is back on track, however, it would be very interesting if it was a brand new game.

I'm just happy TF front page has changed :D

Yeah I think its Titan and they are making a point here :p

I am both excited and nervous. As you said, I now have more questions than before.

It would make sense for them to be using any previous Tech they created before the Reset if this is Titan, because they were a reasonable way into development i think it would be a safe bet that the Reset wasnt as detrimental to its development time as we had all feared.

Hopefully we can start seeing more things like this in the future :)

It's exciting to see things moving in Blizzard but I'm a bit nervous the word "MMO" is gone. That can't be something they just forgot.

MMO isn't the buzz word any more.  I wouldn't put any stock in it missing, personally.  Any more direct correlation to the old project than what they've given us might draw more focus back to Titan than they want.

I'm not saying it is or isn't Titan, but that it's as vague as possible to keep the rumor mill in 1st gear.

I think this is what it says, a new unnanounced game. I don't think "Titan" is returning, whatever "next gen mmo persistant world" they come out with next, it's going to be so different from what Titan was trying to be, that I don't think the word "Titan" is relevant anymore.

I sound like such a debbie downer, sorry.... haha.

i think that this is titan and still be an mmo, cause wow is dying so they need a new mmo, and it need to be titan cause make 2 games at the same time i think that is ahrd and need a lot of personal

Looks like we'd better change our name to: Unannounced Focus!

Haha I wouldn't mind, although Titan is such an iconic name at this point... if/when this next gen game ever comes out, calling it "Titan Focus" would still be really fuckin rad.

WoW is dieing? Quick, someone tell Blizzard that they have significantly more players than any mmo (yes, even F2P and B2P mmos) but are dieing because their peak sub count was way beyond an amount for a nine (9) year old game and now are going to a sub base that is stable (probably around 5 million). I mean comon, 70 million a month? How will blizzard ever survive! They need another MMO, rush it to market like other MMOs and have poor support so they get shut down. That is the new way of developing! /s

The last expac for SC2 isn't even out yet, World of Starcraft is still a ways away and WoW will still be a very populated MMO when it is announced.

Of course this is titan. If they have changed the title, all the same.

It WILL be an MMO. Blizzard knows from experience that MMOs are the only way to make the profit they are looking for. Especially after WoW dies off, they will need a substitute. They are a business, after all.

Although, I do believe that Blizzard is waiting until the last possible moment for WoW to die until they announce this. I assume that is why they reset the game in the first place-- it was simply going to be ready too soon. Beside the fact that it had already begun to start aging, it would have been archaic if they had to sit on it even longer. There is ABSOLUTELY no rush whatsoever to announce this, as long as WoW has 4+mil subscribers. Which will continue for many, many years.

Nah, this sounds nothing like Blizzard.

Sure they're business, aiming for the most profit possible, but this would just be ridiculous...

If Titan was better than WoW, then what difference does it make which game brings millions of dollars to the company, it would have been released.

If Titan was worse than WoW, then it gets restarted.

Else it makes no sense.
