EVE Online [CCP devs sure love their graphs, and even better, they love to show them on their blog as well. Today they gave us a look at Odissey's impact on Exploration Sites. Spoilers: it's huge] - EVE DevBlog

There have been two major changes to exploration that impact on the graphs I'm going to show. It's much less painful to scan sites down which means more people should spend time doing it and the mechanics in the newly named Data and Relic sites are different than they were previously therefore more people might want to spend time finding them.

Top 10 Korean Gaming list [3 MMOs in the list, SC2 on 5th spot, and LoL is a try-hard. Also, Warcraft 3 still in top 10?! :o Koreans sure love old RTS games, with BroodWar probably being just outside this list.] - MMOSite

According to the statistics from Korean search website Gametrics, nothing special in the list with League of Legends keeping the NO.1 seat for 48 weeks and the occupancy drops a liltle. Blade & Soul's upcoming expansion bring some occupancy back with NO.6 seat unchanged.

Upcoming / Beta

Firefall [Final closed beta phase live this Thursday + new trailer to celebrate the occasion. About time!] - MMORPG.com

DayZ [Dean Hall, the brainzzzzz behind the zombie shooter says the team is planning to add even more sandbox features to the game, taking a cue from EVE. Also, the game is close to the end of alpha and apparently a weird kind of closed "buy-in" beta will come around soon enough after.] - Rock, Paper, Shotgun

“I guess that’s where the whole open alpha approach comes in,” he told RPS. “Because we’ve got base-building planned, and I think we’re going to add in a lot of clan stuff and group dynamics. So we’ve talked about something like a clan tattoo. I think a lot of it’s going to be about in-game [user-oriented] content – kind of like EVE.”

“Our worst fears came true [in The War Z] – and they weren’t that bad.”
“So we were like ‘Fuck it’. We may as well make this a good game. The best way to hate on haters is deliver on your promises. So the idea is, we want it to be a good game, and we’re not there yet. But I like to think we’ve addressed some of the elements that were the worst problems of the lot. We’ve attacked them. We might not necessarily have solved them completely, but we’ve made good progress.”

Wildstar [Jeff Kurtenacker reveals official Aurin and Exile audio themes. Check the link to listen to them.] - Wildstar Fans

"A Story of Hope and Healing" is the official theme for the Aurin race in WildStar.
Jeff has since uploaded an arrangement of the official Exile theme as well! The tune is entitled "War Will Come" and Jeff describes the theme as follows:

Opinions / Interviews

Destiny [Mail Sack - Bungie employees answer questions from the community] - Bungie.net

What's the biggest tease you can give us about Destiny?
It’s a dangerous game you invite us to play. Here is who flocked to your dare.
My god, it’s full of stars.
Kevin Yanes, Production Engineer
At E3, you only saw a tiny fraction of the kinds of things you’ll be doing in Destiny.
Lars Bakken, Design Lead

What month are you looking forward to the most in 2014?
The one in which Destiny is released to our beloved community of Guardians in waiting.
You didn’t really think it would be that easy.  Did you?  Silly rabbit.

Human Risks [very interesting comparison of single-player and multiplayer games, based on the effect they have on certain types of players] - Kill Ten Rats

If one really horrible thing can ruin your entire night, PvP will almost inevitably be a harrowing experience for you, and any multiplayer gaming is a crapshoot. Beyond just the effects of anonymity, wide exposure teaches you that some people are just genuinely horrible human beings. And they want to share that with you.
If you are the sort to laugh it off or counter-troll, the downside of PvP and multiplayer gaming is limited for you. If you seek conflict rather than avoiding it, the internet will always have more for you. If you remember the positive and forget the negative, the downside is temporary while the upside is lasting.

21 Things You Don’t Hear in Raid Finder [funnily enough, some of these actually apply to the entire internet] - World of Matticus

Ghostcrawler? Hell yeah I agree with everything he’s said about my class!
I’m just running raid finder for fun. I don’t need valor or loot.
I respect your opinion. I think it’s absolutely valid.
Gee guys, I’d love to queue up with all of you again!

Misc / Off-Topic

Firefox [The latest FF version gives a significant boost to the browser's performance in games and other high-intensity applications. Keep it up FF, I'd love to have a good excuse to ditch Chrome ^^] - Gamasutra

The latest version of Firefox debuts a new subset of Javascript that Mozilla said "enables developers to create high-intensity applications, like 3D games and photo processing, directly on the web without having to install additional software or use plugins."
"Now developers have a low-cost solution to bring high performance games and applications to the Web with technologies like Javascript, Emscripten and WebGL."

Routine [Wow. This one really took me by surprise! :o Seems like Amnesia with guns, based on the Moon and oh yeah, with perma-death. wat] - Lunar Software

Routine is a first person horror exploration game set on an abandoned Moon base. Your job is to find enough data to uncover the truth behind the strange disappearance of everyone stationed on the Lunar Research Station.
Be immersed with Full body awareness, Deadzone aiming, no HUD, no health bars or points system... you must run, hide and survive the best you can against what lurks in the base.

World of Tanks vs XBOX One [Wargamings CEO Victor Kislyi has some criticism on Microsoft and its F2P support on their upcoming console] - GamesIndustry.biz

"With Microsoft, unfortunately it's not 100 per cent free-to-play because it requires the Gold subscription to Xbox Live membership," explains Kislyi. "But that's a Microsoft requirement which is valid for us and for Activision and for EA and all other partners. They cannot drop it for us because they would have to drop it for everyone and it would be a total mess for them.

"Microsoft announced for Xbox One - thank God - they are moving to real currency. We will teach - excuse me - we will advise them on how to embrace, sometime in the future, different payment methods like SMS. Right now, it's only credit cards used to buy Microsoft Points which we know is suicide in free-to-play."

"I understand we can afford this only because we have this huge critical mass. The game is becoming more and more fair, it's becoming more like a cyber sport already. We're building the next football, like FIFA."

Daily AMA: Got any questions about today's news or MMOs in general? Leave them in the comments. You'll probably get quick and awesome answers from TF's members, but if not, I'll give it my best to give you an answer in tomorrow's article.

Euph: What games are you expecting Blizz to pop out at BlizzCon 2013?

All except Titan really.  :( This means expansions for the 3 power-houses, everything about HS (it might be already launched or might even launch around that time) and even ample details on All-Stars.

Euph: Do you think that Blizz will introduce Smurfs to WoW in the next expansion?

Why would they put gnomes in the game again? Doesn't make sense.

Euph: If you were a game, what game would you be and why?

Solitaire, because I'd be incredibly popular with bored secretaries. ^^
Stream Highlight: Evrelia - An entertaining and especially informing stream for WoW players, especially warlocks. The guy even has training courses for the class and as far as I can tell they're (almost) worth it! (I'm not really a fan of paying people to teach you how to play a game)
Featured TF Forum Thread: Console Wars

Nice article Mynsc :)

Good stuff!

We all know it Euph. Gnomes are just "washed up" smurfs.

In other news, I am seriously hyped about Routine. :o The concept they (4 people btw) have for it is amazing and the trailer is just as interesting.

Seriously! I would get a heart attack from playing that game, and never complete it without any cheat codes like IDDQD!
